Plum is an app that provides farming skills to younger generations. Users gain motivation to live a healthier lifestyle and share it with the community. With Plum technology, we guide users with useful detailed information that will inspire everyone to feel the satisfaction of harvesting, and the pleasure of eating what they have grown.

Problem

Why Plum?

Through Plum, anyone can grow plants and feel accomplished. They can learn how to cultivate their own healthy organic food. Additionally, by reducing food waste, they will contribute to improving the sustainability of the earth.

Solution

This scenario video shows how Plum works in our daily lives. Our strength lies in the community, where users can post and exchange their home-grown organic ingredients and enjoy a wider variety of produce.

Prototype

Plum mainly focuses on nurturing for one's plants. On the homepage, members can see a list of plant names and their statuses. Many functions are related to plant care to help them grow healthily.

01 Planting Guide

To offer guidance for all, from beginners to experts, the planting section features three levels. It includes easy-to-follow directions and necessary pre-planting information.

02 Calendar

On the Calendar page, we display moisture level, sunlight, and pH balance using three colored circles, allowing users to identify plants requiring care on specific dates.

03 Plant Diary

For convenient and regular plant status tracking, the Plant Diary feature enables users to write brief daily diary entries, add photos, and document their emotions.

04 Community

Our community is a special place where members can share stories, tips, and even plants! Households with limited space can exchange vegetables with nearby neighbors.

Plum Technology

To explore further, these are 3D products that are compatible with Plum. These items serve as reminders for users to care for their plants and improve their chances of success. Plus, technology enhances our lives by providing easy plant status monitoring.

Caring about plants can be an effortless part of our lives. Plum Clock shows which plants need water soon. It can also be used as a normal clock. Using colored LED lights, Plum Sensor will always notify us about the plant's moisture status.

Interview

The interviewees included one expert in home vegetable cultivation and three people who are interested in growing edible vegetables. They all shared common pain points, such as concerns about watering schedules and issues related to trust in exchanging vegetables.

Field Test

During the PLUM field test, three participants provided valuable insights, prompting significant adjustments to the initial design direction. These adjustments primarily revolved around the selection of color palettes and the main function of the app.

Interviews and user testings were inspiring and led to significant improvements in PLUM. Ideal concept may not always align with practicality.

Next Step

This is not the end of the PLUM app. There are a lot of opportunities to make it more useful for users. Not only planting and trading, recipes can be added to encourage more home cooking. Plus based on user testing, the design and prototype can be improved.
